![]() |
If you are buying a second home or a vacation home that you can rent out you may be wondering how to go about it. There are many locations that a vacation rental is a good idea. Whether you are buying a ski cabin or condo with a log cabin decor or a cabin in the woods of Minnesota there are a few things to research before you buy. Here are a few tips:
Rental History – If you are buying a place with the hopes of renting it out to help pay the mortgage then you need to check out the rental history to make sure that you are going to get the rental income you need. Look at sites like VRBO and see what other units in the area that you are looking at rent for during the various seasons. Does an antler decor unit on the 3rd floor rent for more than a first floor unit?
Consider all Cost – The mortgage will be just the first of your expenses when you buy a condo with cabin decor. Remember to take into consideration both insurance and HOA fees which can be expensive in vacation areas. These costs will add up so be sure they fall within our budget.
